Amazon plans investments of around 40 billion pounds in the UK over the next three years. According to the Department for Business and Trade, four new logistics centers are to be built — including thousands of new jobs. Already confirmed: 2,000 positions in Hull and another 2,000 in Northampton.

With the new three-year program, the US corporation maintains the course of high investments in the United Kingdom. In 2023, Amazon reportedly invested more than 12 billion pounds in its UK activities — primarily in infrastructure, technology, and services.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer immediately welcomed the announcement as a strong signal for his economic policy line. For his Labour government, the news comes at the right time: It is seeking international capital to boost growth that has been faltering for years.

Starmer spoke of a "massive vote of confidence in the UK as a location" and placed the deal alongside other recent investment commitments from abroad. For Amazon, the UK remains a central market in Europe – and an important hub for its extensive delivery network.
