In the world of artificial intelligence, a new legal dispute is emerging: Elon Musk's start-up xAI has sued its competitor OpenAI in a California federal court. According to the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, OpenAI is alleged to have exhibited a "deeply troubling pattern" by poaching former xAI employees to gain access to valuable information about the AI chatbot Grok. These employees are said to possess critical technologies and business plans of xAI, including the source code and operational advantages in building data centers. The lawsuit accuses OpenAI of inducing these employees to unlawfully breach their confidentiality agreements and other obligations to xAI. Neither xAI nor OpenAI wanted to comment on the complaint on Thursday.
