Takeaways NEW

  • Microsoft merges its AI marketplaces into a new Microsoft Marketplace.
  • The new marketplace aims to simplify enterprise solutions and allows billing through existing procedures.
Microsoft has announced plans to consolidate its previously separate artificial intelligence marketplaces into a comprehensive offering. Until recently, the company offered development tools via its Azure cloud platform in one location and specialized applications and "agents" in another. This change aims to simplify usage for enterprise customers. The rollout of the new "Microsoft Marketplace" targeting enterprise technology buyers is starting in the U.S. and will expand globally in the coming weeks. The apps and services available on the marketplace are user-friendly and can be seamlessly integrated into existing Microsoft products. Microsoft customers have the option to pay for these services through their existing billing arrangements, as explained by Alysa Taylor, chief marketing officer for the commercial cloud and AI sector. Unlike traditional consumer app stores, Microsoft does not charge a commission on the offered apps. Instead, a publication fee applies, while Microsoft generates revenue from the cloud services utilized by developers for their offerings. All apps undergo a security and compliance check by Microsoft to ensure that businesses retain control over their data. "There is a threshold for entry into the marketplace," emphasizes Taylor.
