The renowned US chip designer Nvidia has announced its intention to invest up to 500 million dollars in the next financing round of the British technology company Wayve. This announcement follows the conclusion of a technology agreement between the United Kingdom and the USA aimed at strengthening collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence and other technologies. Founded in 2017, Wayve was able to raise over one billion dollars under the leadership of the SoftBank Group last year, with Nvidia as one of the main supporters. The ride-hailing platform Uber also participated in the company with its own investment in 2024, although the extent of this investment was not disclosed. Unlike conventional systems, Wayve's technology relies on machine learning, with camera sensors installed in vehicles to learn from traffic flows and driver behavior, rather than relying on detailed digital maps. The company benefits from Nvidia's powerful chips, which contribute to the global rise of artificial intelligence. The London-based pioneer in autonomous driving technologies is currently active in the UK and the USA and is expanding its testing and development activities to larger markets such as Germany and Japan. Nvidia also announced on Thursday additional investments amounting to 2 billion pounds in the UK ecosystem for AI startups.
