Takeaways NEW
- SLB acquires RESMAN Energy Technology to enhance reservoir monitoring capabilities.
- The acquisition supports SLB's strategy in digitization and renewable energy systems.
The technology company SLB has announced the acquisition of RESMAN Energy Technology. Their advanced tracer technology enables precise monitoring of reservoir flow in applications such as oil, gas, CO2 storage, and geothermal energy.
With this acquisition, SLB gains access to RESMAN’s chemical tracer systems, which allow the detection of fluids at parts per trillion. This enables operators to track the movement of water, oil, gas, and CO2 within wells without interrupting production. These insights contribute to extending the lifespan of wells, reducing unwanted fluids, and optimizing production rates.
Paul Sims, President of SLB Production Systems, emphasized that combining RESMAN’s tracer solutions with SLB's sampling, digital workflows, and subsurface expertise will provide clients with “faster, more accurate insights” to improve asset performance in both traditional hydrocarbon production and new energy projects.
RESMAN’s tracer technologies are already integrated into completion equipment while remaining vendor-neutral, allowing operators to remain flexible in their choice of equipment. Bonnie Powell, CEO of RESMAN, stated that the merger with SLB will expand the company’s global reach and deepen its role in reservoir optimization.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in early 2026.
This acquisition is part of SLB’s strategy to expand its portfolio in the areas of digitization, decarbonization, and renewable energy systems to maximize recovery while supporting energy transition initiatives.
