After fifteen years, Aaron Sorkin announces 'The Social Reckoning,' the long-awaited sequel to the successful film 'The Social Network.' Its theatrical release is scheduled for October 9, 2026. Instead of Jesse Eisenberg, who played the role of young Mark Zuckerberg, the award-winning actor Jeremy Strong will take on the role and promises to bring new depth to the character with his well-known dedication to Method Acting. While the original film illuminated the beginnings of Facebook, the sequel focuses on an entirely new chapter. At its center is Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, who, as a former Facebook employee in 2021, leaked a wealth of explosive internal documents. These documents revealed how the company, among other things, endangered the mental health of young female users and neglected public safety mechanisms. Mark Zuckerberg himself was not particularly pleased with the portrayal of his company in the original film. Nevertheless, he recently admitted in an interview that he only watched the movie as part of a joint outing with his employees. "It was weird," Zuckerberg commented, "they got all the little details about me right, but the story of my motives was completely misrepresented.
