Takeaways NEW

  • Turkish Airlines expands fleet with 225 new Boeing aircraft.
  • Negotiations on Engine Deliveries with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace.
Turkish Airlines, the national airline of Turkey, has announced a significant expansion of its fleet. The plan is to acquire a total of 225 aircraft from the American manufacturer Boeing. This announcement was officially made via the Istanbul Stock Exchange. The airline explained its decision to purchase 75 Boeing B787-9 and B787-10 aircraft after successful negotiations with Boeing. The orders include 50 firmly committed and 25 optional aircraft, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034. These long-haul aircraft boast advanced technology and high fuel efficiency. Concurrently, negotiations for the acquisition of 150 Boeing 737-8/10MAX models, 100 firm and 50 optional, have been concluded. However, the final order will only be placed after successful talks with CFM International, the engine supplier. In this context, Turkish Airlines is also in negotiations with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace for the supply of engines, spare parts, and maintenance services. Turkish Airlines operates one of the most extensive flight networks worldwide. Independently of these developments, there have been political signals in the U.S. that may pave the way for the sale of modern fighter jets to Turkey, a NATO ally. This measure could further influence the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
