AfD clearly surpasses SPD in Brandenburg – Poll shows political upheaval

The political sentiment in Brandenburg is shifting: According to a recent Insa survey, the AfD is now clearly ahead of the SPD led by Minister President Dietmar Woidke. With 34 percent approval, the party extends its lead to ten points – a result that is putting the SPD, which has been in power for 35 years, under pressure.

AfD gains, SPD loses massively

Compared to the 2024 state election, the AfD improves by almost five percentage points, while the SPD loses around six points and only reaches 24 percent. Thus, the party of Woidke, which dominated Brandenburg for decades, continues to lose support.

Weak Coalition, CDU Defeated

The co-governing BSW drops to nine percent in the poll, which means a minus of 4.5 points. Together with the SPD, the coalition only reaches 33 percent – less than the AfD alone. The CDU remains in the middle with 13 percent, thus staying far from a leading role.

Small Parties Fight for Survival

The Left Party can hope for a comeback in the state parliament with nine percent and significant gains. For the Greens, who are again at four percent, it is likely not enough. FDP and Free Voters remain without a chance at two percent each.

Sentiment against the government

Trust in the state government is also shaken.
